Paityn Grace Hannah was born on January 5. Everything went pretty quick – Emily started having contractions around 5am, we started getting the grandma’s involved, made it to the hospital at 8am, and Paityn was born at 10am! Sydney was born in the middle of the night – I have to say I prefer a morning birth much more!

She’s such a sweet little baby – she feels so small when I hold her.

Because of H1N1 precautions, Sydney (all children under the age of 5) was not allowed to come into the maternity ward. It was a little sad that she couldn’t come and visit. Luckily, the nursery windows are in the main area outside the maternity ward, so Sydney was able to come up to the window and see Paityn through the windows. When she saw her, she said, “Oh! I love baby Paityn!” Emily was also able to come out and see Sydney. When Sydney saw her mommy, she looked at her hospital gown and said, “I like your dress, Mommy!” Sydney and Mommy got to spend a bit of time together, and we gave Sydney a present – a baby that cries and laughs, with a blanket, bottle, etc. Sydney loved being a “mommy” too.

What is it about babies, puppies, and anything else that is tiny and loveable that makes you feel so special when they focus their attention on you? Almost a year ago, I wrote how Sydney finally chose me to put her to bed instead of her Mommy, and how awesome it was! A couple of weeks ago, Grandma Deb had her turn!

We were over at Grandma Deb’s house and it was time for Sydney’s nap. We usually ask her “Do you want Mommy to put you to bed, or Daddy?” She is usually pretty equal when choosing between the two of us, but this time, she pointed to Grandma Deb and said, “Gamma.” I think Grandma felt pretty special. She should, too, because I think that is the first time Sydney has asked for someone other than her Mommy and Daddy to put her to bed!

The goal of this game of tag is:
1. Go to your pictures on your computer
2. Go to your 8th folder down
3. In that 8th folder pick the 8th picture down and post it.
4. Write a little description about the picture.
5. Mention 4 other people who blog so that they can do the same thing.

My little sister, Kari, tagged me. She also tagged the only other people that I know that blog – so I won’t be able to tag anyone else. But I will post my 8th picture in my 8th folder.

This is a picture of Sydney and her cousin Raiya. We wanted to take a nice picture of the two girls and put it in a frame and give it to my mom for Christmas. Both girls were about 1 year old.

It was super tough getting both girls in the picture together, looking at the camera, and hopefully smile. This 8th picture was taken when both moms were trying to get the girls attention and maybe get them to smile.
